March 4, 2025, marks a milestone for the Cooperative Union of Batangas (CUB) during the KooPulong, a collaborative initiative between CUB and the Provincial Cooperative Livelihood and Enterprise Development Office (PCLEDO)
The event's first part highlighted the signing of Deed of Usufruct, officially providing CUB a parcel of land within the Capitol vicinity for its multipurpose building. Representing the Provincial Government of Batangas in this significant agreement was Hon. Governor Hermilando Mandanas, while Dr. Angelito Bagui, CUB Chairperson, signed on behalf of the cooperative union. The signing was witnessed by Board Member Claudette Ambida, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives, who played a significant role in making this agreement a reality. Also present as witness was Mr. Crispin Berana, CUB Vice Chairperson, along with the CUB Board of Directors and the attendees of KooPulong, the representatives of CUB member-cooperatives.
A recognition was given to Mrs. Celia Atienza, CUB Director & Head of PCLEDO for her support in facilitating the coordination between CUB and the Office of the Provincial Governor. During the event, Dr. Bagui expressed appreciation to the Provincial Government for its continuous support to the cooperative sector, as well as to the CUB Management, led by Mrs. Myra Ebora, for its efforts. He also acknowledged the Agap Partylist, the primary funding source for the building's construction.
As of the signing date, construction is already underway, with the CUB multipurpose building expected to be operational by June 2025.
The new facility will serve as CUB office, enhancing its capability to provide services and support to cooperatives across the province.
Following the signing ceremony, the KooPulong program continued with a forum featuring officers from Revenue District Office, Branches 58 and 59. The discussion focused on providing guidelines and addressing concerns of cooperatives particularly their role as BIR's collecting & withholding agents. The forum served as a platform for cooperative representatives to clarify tax-related responsibilities and ensure compliance with revenue regulations.
